La Charanga Diáspora string quartet brings elegant grace and poise to the large ensemble. The lush string arrangements add extra richness to the arrangements of Diáspora's more traditional material by the likes of Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Buena Vista Social Club and the Afro-Cuban All-Stars. This has also fed through to modern Cuban pop - many of Cuba's great salsa bands have been influenced by the distinct Charanga sound which emanated from the French classical music to Cuba via Haiti. This brought the strings, timbales and piccolo into Cuban salsa music and made its way into the popular Cuban musics we know today such as Timba and Songo, made famous by artists such as Los Van Van. Diáspora, too, is able to offer La Charanga Diaspora as a support act, which will further enrich and add an extra touch of class to the performance.
